Description: Damage of a rim or a tire may occur as a result of abraded driving through a kerbstone or other obstacles. Sidewall abrasion may lead to so called “balloon” and following, tyres burst. Still, friction with rim may cause paint chip, flange damage and consequently inability to balance a wheel. Nowadays tyres protect rim and itself against damage by using maximum flange shield. Such a solution helps to minimize side-wheel damages, most often caused when making a turn or parking. Tyres with sidewall height lower than 55 are usually equipped with flange shield protection.
